Terms of Service for Milestone

These terms are an agreement between you and Milestone ("we", "us") about your use of the Milestone app. By downloading or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

The app

Milestone is an iOS app for designing and running personal multi-day commitment challenges. You set your own rules, choose what a missed day means, and check in each day. The app runs on your device and stores your data locally.

Framing, not enforcement

Milestone is a tool for holding yourself to a commitment. It is structure and framing only. It cannot and does not physically prevent you from missing a day, changing your device settings, or deleting the app, and it makes no promise that using it will make you succeed. Any outcome is yours. The app is not a coach, a medical or mental-health service, or professional advice of any kind. Do not rely on it as such. If a challenge you design could affect your health, use your own judgment and consult a qualified professional.

No account, your data

Milestone does not require an account. Your challenges, check-ins, photos, and notes are stored on your device. You are responsible for your device and for any backups. Because we do not receive or store your content, we cannot recover it if it is lost, for example if you delete the app or lose the device. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Purchases

Some features require a purchase. Milestone sells one-time purchases, one per challenge. These are consumable purchases: they are used when you start the challenge they pay for, and they do not renew. There is no subscription.

All purchases are made through the Apple App Store and are subject to Apple's terms. Prices are shown in the app before you buy. Because purchases are handled by Apple, any refund is handled by Apple under Apple's policies, not by us. If you believe you were charged in error, request a refund through Apple. We are glad to help where we can, but we cannot issue Apple charges or refunds directly.

Acceptable use

Use Milestone only for lawful, personal purposes. Do not attempt to reverse engineer, tamper with, or disrupt the app, and do not use it in a way that infringes anyone's rights or breaks the law.

Intellectual property

The app, its design, and its content, other than the content you create, belong to us and our licensors. These terms do not grant you any right to our name, logo, or branding beyond using the app as intended. The rules, notes, and photos you create are yours.

Availability and changes

We may update, change, or discontinue the app or any feature at any time. We may also update these terms. If we do, we will post the new version with a new date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error free, or fit for a particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the purchase at issue.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [your state or country], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be handled in the courts located there, unless the law gives you a right to have it heard elsewhere.
